Project Code and values

You can organize projects in your EPS into groups according to specific categories, such as location and manager, using project code.

You can define unlimited hierarchical project codes to meet the filtering, sorting and reporting requirements for your projects, and organize them hierarchically for easy management and assignment.

The project codes dictionary is global for the entire enterprise. Assign a project code value to each project code that you create.

Use project code for group projects; Consolidating large amounts of information, and separating one project from another. When you sort by group code and project code, all projects are assigned a value for one code.

Create project code:

1. Choose Enterprise, Project Codes.

2. Click Modify.

3. Click Add, and then type the name of the project code.

4. In the Maximum Length field, specify the maximum characters for the values of the project code.

5. Click Close.

The steps i have mentioned here requires EPS(Project) and you can start from the very first phase of the project ...click here to see the link here >>>

Resource code

You can classify resources using code. With projects using potentially hundreds of resources in an enterprise, code provides another way to filter the resources you need to access quickly, or to group resources for analysis and summarization in layouts.

You can also use resources code to group, sort and filter resources in profiles and spreadsheets.

Assign resource code and values:

1. Choose Enterprise, Resource, and then choose the resource for which you want to specify a code and value.

2. Click on the Codes tab.

3. Click on Assign.

4. Select the resource code value you want to assign. You can assign only one value per code.

5. Click Assign, and then click Close.

Activity Code and values

Activity codes and values enable you to filter, group, sort and report activity information according to the unique needs of your organization.

For example, if your organization has more than one location, you can create a location code with values such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. You can then combine activities with a specific location, such as New York.

You can define three types of activity codes, global activity codes, EPS-level activity codes and project-level activity codes.

You can specify global activity codes and values for activities in all projects.

You can assign EPS level activity codes and values to EPS. EPS-level activity codes are useful when you want some code not accessible to all users or project-specific.

You can assign project level activity codes and values only to activities in the project for which the codes were created.

Assigning  the activity code and price for the activities:

1. Select Project, Activities, and then select the activity for which you want to specify a code and value.

2. Display the activity details, and then click on the Codes tab.

3. Click on Assign.

4. Select the activity code value you want to assign. You can assign only one value per code.

5. Click Assign, and then click Close.

By assigning project codes, resource and activity codes ,we have to prepare WBS too.
