Concrete is a construction material
made of aggregates mixed with cement, fine aggregate (sand) and water. Portland
cement is a mostly used cement for the production of concrete. It is the most
popular advanced artificial material. It is probably used more than any other
man-made product in the world.
Uses of concrete:
Some uses of concrete are given below:
1. Concrete is not sensitive to moisture.
2. The strength of concrete increases over time.
3. Concrete is a permanent option for residential and commercial
projects.
4. It is a durable and cost effective material that is required
for underground use.
5. Concrete can hold against weather conditions and is easy to
maintain.
6. It is budget-friendly to use everywhere in civil field. It is
easy to repair and energy efficient.
7. Concrete is safer for building occupants.
8. Concrete is an inert material that does not rot, mildew or
feed rot.
9. Its superior structural integrity provides an additional
degree of protection from severe weather as well as earthquake.
10. Concrete walls and floors make the house an important place
for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.
11.Concrete is produced from locally available materials and
leaves a small environmental footprint while providing high-level durability.
12. It is used in roadbeds or as a granular material during
concrete making.
13. Concrete is fire resistant. It can resist extreme levels of
flames and heat which is a good choice of roof in the storage room.
14. Concrete can be shaped into various forms when freshly
mixed.
15. It is an important construction product.Concrete is chosen
over wood and timber as a construction material.
16. It does not leave any volatile organic compound in the air
which is environmentally friendly.
17. Concrete gives a longer service lifecycle.
18. It protects the house from insects. It does not attract
pests and rodents. That is why small animals cannot go into concrete to build a
house.
19. Concrete is used in driveways and patios.
20. Concrete can be used to achieve optimal environmental
performance.
21. As it is recycled, it is possible to use it for addition.
22. High-performance concrete is used to construct bridges.
23. Able to accommodate steel reinforcement in concrete gates,
tunnel lines, electrical controls.
24. Concrete floors can be stamped to create an attractive
surface. It can accept natural light during the day and transmit artificial
light after work.
25. Concrete has many design possibilities Concrete is used in
driveways and patios.
